How does Max Drawdown Shield Protection work for Instant Accounts?

Shield Protection is a special benefit available to Instant Funded Accounts.

It allows traders to gradually increase their Maximum Drawdown protection.

Example: A trader starts with a 5% Maximum Drawdown allowance. After claiming their 4th qualifying reward, their drawdown allowance increases to 5.5%. After the 8th, 12th, and 16th qualifying rewards, it increases to 6.0%, 6.5%, and 7.0% respectively, reaching the maximum Shield Protection of +2%.

How does it work?

For every 4th qualifying Reward, your Maximum Drawdown receives an additional:

+0.5% protection

The maximum additional protection is:

+2%

This can increase your Maximum Drawdown from the original 5% to as much as 7%.

What is a qualifying Reward?

A qualifying Reward must be at least:

$50 or 2% of the initial account balance, whichever is greater.

For both current Instant Account sizes, this means a qualifying Reward must currently be at least $50.

Example

A trader begins with a 5% Maximum Drawdown.

After their:

  • 4th qualifying Reward → 5.5%

  • 8th qualifying Reward → 6%

  • 12th qualifying Reward → 6.5%

  • 16th qualifying Reward → 7%

Once 7% is reached, the maximum Shield Protection has been achieved.
